Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management
Symbiosis was founded in 1971 with the sole mission "Welfare of Foreign students" by Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, then a professor at the famous Fergusson College (Pune). This Oxford of east attracted many Afro Asian students for higher studies. Problems of admission, accommodation, cultural shocks and language barriers were severe. Dr. Mujumdar offered to help out and established "Symbiosis International and Cultural Centre" and "International Students Home". He considered these foreign students as "Ambassadors of Goodwill" and a "National Investment" to promote international understanding and camaraderie and hence adopted the motto "Vasudeva Kudumbakam", much before the present concept of globalization. "SIOM is one of the success stories of the Symbiosis family. It was established to meet specific demand of the corporate sector for Techno – Business Managers with broad based knowledge, multi - disciplinary skills and positive attitude. SIOM has more than demonstrated its competency and capability to exceed these corporate expectations. Its phenomenal all round success within its just 2 years of existence has made me and the Symbiosis fraternity very proud."
