Vidya Pratishthan's Arts, Science and Commerce College was established by the Vidya Pratishthan Trust with the aim of providing education with world–class facilities to rural students. The Trust was founded in 1972 by the son-of-the-soil, Hon. Mr. Sharad Pawar (Minister for Agriculture, Union Government) who also currently presides over it. This grand visionary realized that talent is all-pervasive but opportunity and access are not. And so in order to provide opportunities to deserving rural students in the rapidly globalizing market and access to the best facilities, he, along with a handful of dedicated associates, established the Vidya Pratishthan Trust. The Trust established hostels for students in Baramati and Pune and later on an English Medium School in Baramati. From then on, the Trust has set up around 16 institutes under it in and around Baramati. As part of its ever-increasing repertoire, the Arts, Science and Commerce College came into existence in 1994 with a mission to “achieve academic excellence through team spirit. Vidya Pratishthan's Arts, Science and Commerce College is located in a quaintly pleasing campus called “Vidyanagari,” 5 kms from Baramati town. The campus sprawls over 156 acres of exquisitely landscaped terrain and is a small town in its own right. Geographically, it is located in the Village Rui in Baramati Taluka, District Pune. The campus houses three schools, three colleges, an Information Technology Institute, a School of Biotechnology, eight hostels, a three-acre playground, gymnasia for boys and girls and an 11- acre one-of-its-kind “Nakshatra Udyan. The Arts, Science and Commerce College occupies the pride of place in the campus. The college is affiliated to the University of Pune and comes under the co-education category. It has been recognized by the University Grants Commission under clauses 2(f) and 12(b). The College that started with a meager strength of 151 students now nurtures the aspirations of more than 2500 students.
